Minun lempilaulajani Suomesta on Käärijä.

Try not to judge me for this one HAHA
I know of the musician. My Finnish friend once talked about him and Eurovision. I thought at that time that the song Cha Cha Cha was addictive, even though it wasn’t my cup of tea. Ah, you live in Liverpool, the city of The Beatles! I guess you must have had the chance to fully enjoy the exciting festival for Europeans! By the way, may I ask when and how you started learning Swedish? I thought it was also interesting to know that you speak the Nordic language! And in addition, could you tell me about what made you long to be a nurse? Do you have any particular related experience? Anyway, thanks to you, I’m more motivated to acquire Finnish!
@jmsocean yes, I went to see it live, and having been a huge fan since 2007 it was the best day of my life lol.
Swedish is a funny one - basically in the story I'm writing/drawing, one of the main characters is half Swedish. From there it's basically the same thing that happened with Finnish; in the name of getting things accurate I started reading about Sweden, its history and so on, and then heard Swedish being spoken and fell in love with it. I went to northern Sweden last year and was able to use my Swedish and I had the time of my life. I started... about two years ago, I think? I'm not that high of a level considering it's been so long but as you can tell I have other languages that take up a lot of my time, haha.
About nursing... I have spent a lot of time in hospitals in my life, and it was always the nurses I remembered. Not the doctors who treated me, but the nurses who held my hand, gave me hot drinks, chatted with me etc, and I wanted to be able to do that for someone else, too. I have a Japanese degree already but it is basically a useless piece of very expensive paper and I decided that for the sake of my career I needed to do something else, so I'm studying nursing now instead. It will also help me move abroad, which is great, because I hate it here in the UK haha.
That's great! I hope to see some posts in Finnish from you soon :D
@hellias AWWW, that’s super awesome! You were right in the historic scene! I envy you!
Wow, so amazing! It’s like when people are drawn to Japanese thanks to many fascinating Japanese cartoon animations! I’m happy to hear that you had a great time in Sweden! I’ve been to the country and really loved the old area in the capital. :) Yes, yes, yes, you’re juggling languages! Brilliant! :)
I’m sad to hear that. I hope you’re now completely in good conditions! May I ask what the “something else” is? Sorry for my high level of curiosity. Haha. Anyway, the world will look like how you think, and your happiness will rely on not where you are but how you think. :)
I'll pull my socks up! :)
@jmsocean the 'something else' is becoming a nurse - it's a guaranteed career with jobs all over the world, and one that I thankfully happen to really enjoy. The aim is to bog off to Germany, Finland, or Sweden once I graduate, so I have three years to get those languages where they need to be.
And never apologise for being curious! More people could stand to wonder more about the world, I think.
@hellias Ah, now I think I've nearly pieced together your story, at least in terms of your career. :) By any chance, have you ever thought about going to Switzerland where you can also use German? By the way, I will pray for you to accomplish your goal! :) And thank you for your generosity! :)
@jmsocean I haven't, but Switzerland is one of the hardest countries in the world to move to, bar none, and Swiss German is a whole other beast. I am looking into Austria, however!
Thank you kindly, and you're welcome! Would you by chance be open to talking via email or over Discord (I'd prefer Discord, but understand not everyone has it)? I could help you with your English and maybe we could study some Finnish together 👍
@hellias Ah, I see! By the way, thank you for suggesting! I have my Discord account I made while studying German, I'm not quite good at using it though. haha. What do you need to open the talks to me via Discord?
@jmsocean just let me know your username and I can add you!
