And So It Begins
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
Like this quote from Zig Ziglar says: If you want to be great at something, you have to start somewhere! So... here it is: My first post to start this new adventure at Journaly.
Hello everyone! Nice to meet you. My name is Lynn and I was today years old when I found this amazing website. I am really looking forward reading a bunch of the stories and posts from others, and, of course, starting to share some of my thoughts and ideas here with you as well.
Currently (thanks to Covid19 not really at the moment) I am working as an assistant teacher in a class for refugees at a primary school. I absolutely love this job and hope I will be able to keep working in classes for refugees or with other language learners even after my graduation. Maybe that's why the thought of helping others and getting help myself while learning a new language is really dear to my heart.
As for me, I am a huge fan of languages and self development. For me these two topics go hand in hand. Maybe it's just me, but I kind of gained a new part of my personality while learning English to a certain level, and even though I just started my journey with Korean, I already have a feeling it will add something new as well.
I am looking forward reading and writing with you!
Your English is fantastic! Also, I love the phrase "I was today years old" - it's unfortunate how many times I have to use it!!
A lot of people feel like their personality changes when they speak a different language. Alex Rawlings had an interesting take on language and personality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1Itp1sdGcA. In a way, his view is that it comes full circle.
Well done on your first post.
Hi Lynn! Welcome to Journaly! I can confirm that languages add something to one's personality! Hope you will enjoy learning Korean the same way you enjoyed learning English.
Welcome! Good work, I look forward to reading more! Your English is very good and your use of expressions is pretty impressive!
@Rachel2021 Hey Rachel, thank you very much for your comment and the praise!
@Ons Thank you for the Link and your comment! It's a really interessting topic for me so I am going to check this video out for sure!
@Linda I really hope my experiences with Korean will be as fascinating and eye opening as the process of learning English was. And thank you for the confirmation about the change in personality. I was thinking a lot about this topic the last few days and am glad that some people seem to experience the same.
@TomJRandle Thank you very much for all the corrections and explanations!! And of course the nice words here in this comment!
