Las Chicas del Cable is a Spanish tv series that takes us back to the 1920s. The series takes place in Madrid, the capital of Spain. A mysterious lady named Lydia is on her way to the most famous telephone company in Spain, to apply for a job of a switchboard operator. She has a plan of robbing the company to pay her depts. Everything goes according to plan until she meets the new director of the company, Fernando. Her long lost first love is standing right in front of her and she has to hide her true identity from him to keep her mission in secrecy. After a while it becomes crystal clear that she can't avoid him forever.

This series is full of references to that period of history and it helps us make an image of how life used to look like back then. Between scenes of dilemma and a painful love story, we can see how Spain looked like in the 1920s. What fashion and hairstyles were popular, how kids used to dress and which cars were most current. We are offered to see four different lifestyles of four women and imagine what a woman's life used to be in those times. Seeing all of the difficulties these women were going through and how unfair society was to women in general makes you appreciate the generation you live in today.

I would say there isn't much the directors could have done to make this this series any better. The show is very entertaining and the casting could not have been better. It is romantic and at times truly heartbreaking.

This series manages to brilliantly combine a love story with some historic facts and complex emotions. After a while you feel like the characters are your friends and it will pain you to turn off Netflix after a few epiosdes. The show is definitely worth watching. Like most viewers you will find yourself binge watching the the whole series.
