"The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost is no doubt one of the best narrative poems I’ve ever encountered. I came across this poem 132 weeks ago as I was searching for a poem to use as a caption for a picture of a road that I had captured while jogging earlier that day. Since then, it has never left my heart. (As cheesy as it sounds haha笑)
The reason why I’ve never forgotten about this poem is that, whenever I am faced with a situation where I need to make a hard decision, it always comes to mind. It reminds me that there will always be a road that I will never get to travel, regardless of which path I take, and it’s alright. What’s important is to make sure I don’t doubt my decision and never look back. As doubt only makes it harder to take a step and move forward.
Jogging really does generate the best flow of ideas. I believe this is called "opportunity cost" in economics. By saying yes to one option, you're saying no to another. By saying yes to spending money on a new keyboard, you're saying no to saving money. So you're right, you can't choose two paths at once, and accepting that you can't makes the decision easier emotionally.
