My sleep schedule has been a complete disaster over the past few years. I only manage to get a short amount of sleep, like for 3-5 hours and sometimes I don't sleep at all. I thought things were getting better lately, but the day before yesterday, I didn't get any sleep. I've literally been awake for 25 hours perhaps. This time, I didn't sleep because of insomnia, or worrying and dwelling on something, but because I got totally engrossed in working on my portfolio. I practically had to drag myself to bed even though I knew I'd get only a short nap and ended up dozing off for about 3 hours, give or take.
My friends have been telling me to get proper sleep, like a solid 7 or 8 hours. One of them even gave me this book called "Why We Sleep" by a scientist whose name I forgot. Honestly, I haven't gotten around to reading it, well, I've read but only a couple of pages and actually what he wrote at the beginning really hit me.
Yeah, I definitely need to get my sleep schedule sorted. I'm not sure if I can magically start getting eight-hour sleep every night, but at least I can work on regulating my body clock.
I've read the book! I think everyone should read it😁
That's great! I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I'm curious to know if there were any specific ideas or practices from the book that you found valuable and incorporated into your own life?
I guess so. I had some ideas how to improve the quality of sleep before , but the book gave me a lot more indications and suggestions with details, and most importantly the scientific reasons behind them. So, it made me take it all more seriously. I decided not to use white lights on the ceiling after 8mp, only using dim warm lights afterward. I go to bed an hour before the time I want to sleep at, and after going to bed, I try not to use my phone but use only the Kindle or physical book to do some reading. I try to sleep at least 7 hours, aiming for 8, trying to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. I still struggle to restrict my caffeine intake after 3 pm, but more or less I'm getting used to. It's not perfect, of course, but it has given me enough good results so far.
I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences with me. they're all very valuable. I will definitely continue my journey with this book. Once again thank you!
