It must be completely changed. How come, in Europe at least, we "study" English from elementary to high school and we get out knowing nothing about the language. But one thing is for sure, those English teachers get paid with public money to produce nothing. I'm not blaming them. We can say the same about science.

Schools don't leave room for creativity and passion. Schools are as gloomy as hospital, and that speaks volume. Teachers should focus on small groups of students. They should nurture students' interests, broaden their horizons and guide them.

We need to re-evaluate the teaching methods. Books are boring. School history books are written as if they're meant for Nobel awardees. There's no anecdote, no passion. It's just all wrong. We finish school knowing nothing. What we know is because of our own researches.

But politicians aren't gonna do anything about it. The educationl system isn't even a topic they discuss....Why should they care about the educational system? First, the majority of students can't vote because is under age, so there's no point in making false promises. Secondly, it's better for politicians to keep people ignorant. A conscious mind is a dangerous one.

I agree with the first part of your answer. Learning should be more fun, and teachers should be more dedicated to their job. Also, teaching efficient learning techniques is fundamental to improve education. Some politicians may not worry about education, as you said, "A counscious mind is a dangerous one." On the other hand, however, education increases economic development, so I think it's very important.

I agree with you. However, when I said that politicians don't discuss the state education system, it's completely true in Italy. Things aren't gonna change in the near future in Italy.
