Once upon a time, a boy lived in a town near a peaceful forest. He was like any little kid. He played with other kids, and laughed a lot but was also a mischievous sort who lied a lot. One day, he made up a story about seeing a wolf in the forest nearby to the town. Everyone in the town was scared because the wolf could hurt other children.
People banded together and set off to find the wolf in the forest but they didn't find anything so they headed back into town. Meanwhile, the little boy was in stitches because everyone was so scared and it made him happy. They were angry about the kid but they forgot about it soon. The following day the little boy raced to the town and cried out he saw the ferocious wolf in the forest again. People immediately got together and run to the forest to kill the wolf. The mischievous kid laughed a lot again and people came back to the square of the town and were angry. As a result, nobody spoke to the kid anymore. The next day he walked around the forest but this time the little boy truly saw the wolf with massive teeth. He was scared and yelled a lot but he was on the outskirts of the town so few people could hear him. But they didn't care because they thought he was messing around with them. Eventually, the ferocious wolf was faster than him and the wolf tore him limb from limb and ate him up.
Lesson learned?
- Liars don't tell the truth but if they do, they are not believed.
The official title of this fable is Peter and the Wolf. It's a good idea to title it as such to avoid potential ownership issues.
@JGComm thank you. It's a good idea :)
Bravo, It's not easy tell a story like this in your own words. I'm going to try that in Spanish. One comment I would make overall is the use of the "kid" throughout sound a little odd rather than continuing to use "boy". To me "kid" is little derogatory.
I was mistaken. The story is actually called The Boy who Cried Wolf.
