Carrie was a beautiful and successful business consultant. Many CEOs at large companies hired her to give advice for their businesses. After divorcing for years, she started dating.
Normally the men she dated looked amazed when they knew her career. It always made her feel awkward.
One man named Mark even said those rich men hired Carrie not because of her profession but her beauty. Although Mark tried to make it sound like a joke, it still made her uncomfortable. She answered it was interesting that Mark assumed those CEOs were all men, but women could be great CEOs. Another man named Joe said it seemed that Carrie really cared about her career. Joe implied that she divorced was because she did not manage her marriage as well as her career.
After those awkward conversations, Carrie considered talking about her career ambiguously. However, eventually she figured that it would not be a healthy relationship if a man she dated felt insecure about her achievement.
Carrie knew some women would pretend to be dumb to attract men. That was not what she wanted to be. She believed that she would meet her love who appreciated her intelligence.
Hi Sunny2022,
This actually is a very interesting story because I've been talking to women who had that exact problem with dating. It actually really shocked me to hear that this was a thing.
@LindasLinguas
Hi Linda, Thank you for the comment. Is the women you talked to German? I heard about this story from an English podcast. Maybe that is really a thing. :)
Yeah, the woman I refer to is German and she's a physician.
I guess it happens not only in Asian countries but also in Western countries, although there are men who appreciate high-achieving women. :)
