Here, I'm writing my answer to a question asked in my English textbook.

Basically, I agree that the multi-billion-dollar health and fitness industry isn't creating healthier people.

Why? Because I believe staying in shape or maintaining your health wouldn't be an industry if people were really getting healthier. In my opinion, being healthy should be much simpler and not that complicated.

Once you gain understanding about how to keep your body in a healthy condition, then you will not need to spend so much money in such industries. However, the reality is there are plenty of people who still invest their money in going to the gym or buying expensive health products. That means, I don't think the industry is creating healthier people whatsoever. There are always people coming in and out, and it seems it's never going to end.

I always feel unless you are trying to become an athlete, model, or bodybuilder, you don't even need to go to the gym to stay fit. Rather, we should try to aquire the right knowledge and information about health and fitness. In other words, health literacy is the key to health, and it shouldn't be expensive. It should be accessible for everyone. Of course, sometimes it's not easy for us to be so determined or engage in what is considered to be ideal to do, but learning self-control is the easiest and most effective way to maintain our health.

I assume the industry will keep growing in the future, but we consumers should also become smarter so that we can make the best choice for ourselves.
