Hey everyone,
I had a goal of posting at least 1 post every day here on Journaly, but I failed.
I didn't post here for 3 days. That is not too much, but I was afraid of losing track of my writing habit. The past three days were amazing in terms of self-confidence and productivity. As I wrote in one of my past posts, I was tremendously frustrated with my active English level. This year my main goal is to write and speak fluently. My passive language abilities are quite good, which means that I hit almost 100% comprehension with no struggle. However, my active language fluency, such as writing and speaking, is terrible, and these abilities are extremely important to really experience the language and its beauties.
Although, since my 4-hour class this last Sunday, I am feeling ready to improve. The class was so good that gave me a motivation boost to keep going and studying.
Basically, this is an update post. I'm following the strategies and tips that this community gave me.
Right now, I'm focusing on:
- Reading (Book + Audiobook);
- Writing (Journaly and Cambridge English Write & Improve)
- Reviewing grammar;
- Listening podcasts / watching youtube videos;
- Speaking (with strangers).
That's all for today.
By for now!
I sincerely doubt your active abilities are truly "terrible" when you write so well! My only advice is to be gentle with yourself, because otherwise it seems like you're on a steady path.
I think you expect too much out of yourself. Life gets in the way of all of our goals. You are obviously making good progress and that is what is important. If you miss a day writing, I suggest that you write on your calendar the date and time that you will post again. That way, time won't get away from you.
Ha, my goal was to write every other day and that didn't work for me this week. So Now I am shooting for 2 times a week, but engaging with journaly 4-5 times a week, either to correct posts or respond to topics of interest. I noticed that people are sometimes correcting but not responding which I find a little sad.
