"This island boasts the beautiful beaches of their resorts... But the realty is not so idyllic as that. The blood of tens of thousands of soldiers has contaminated this island."
After this quote, the true intentions of the main protagonist starts to get clearer.
This manga is really unpredictable, and the beginning gives you a few hints about all its madness: from the part where the protagonist, Seiichi, tells his wife that he wants to start all over again; until the part where he's entering the cave, in which his wife is hiding.
Seiichi is one of the protagonists of this story. He was a writer that once had a beautiful family and a good career, but he lost all of them little by little. So, Seiichi, as a way of rescuing his marriage and overcoming the death of their son, decides to go on a trip on a island with his wife.
Basically, we're reading his last novel, plunging into the unknown, where wicked eyes look at him, and ghastly screams come from the neighboring room.
This story explores the horrors of the daily life and the horrors of the darkness. A lot of reversal situations happen, like a cave into which those who stray never come back, a cave with no room for a sliver of hope. Some times you might think that it serves certain characters right for being bad, and other times you might question yourself about their sanity.
Something is certain, I shouldn't have sympathized with the characters nor should I have expected a happy ending.
All Seiichi wanted was a family.
I want to read this one! Is Masasumi Kakizaki the author?
@ValentinaEla Yes, he is. Highly recommended. Thank you again for the feedback!
