Hi all,
Yesterday I wrote my first post here in Journaly: a book review. I have to say I couldn't be happier with the outcomes. I honestly had decent levels of expectation, but it was even better.
So, since I enjoyed the platform and, more than that, I liked the people who are here, I've decided to write one more post today. However, today, I'd like to talk a little bit about myself and about how I came here. Why?
Especially because I see on Journaly a great potential to not only improve my language skills but also to know different people and to build relationships. Let's be honest: Is there a better way to start other than at the beginning? I guess not. So, here we go:
My name is Ana Carolina, I'm 24, and I'm from Brazil. I had studied English for about four years in a traditional course here in Brazil when I was younger. When I say traditional, I mean a course that offers group classes, in person, twice a week, and each class lasts 2 hours or less.
However, after that, I had never used the language (in real life) until the beginning of this year, when I started work for international clients. By the way, I'm an Engineer. Since then, I've been working hard on improving my English. Currently, I'm studying in a new way, by myself, and using a completely different approach (but this is a topic to another post).
On this journey, I discovered myself as a language enthusiast, and here I am. In my free time, aside from studying English, I enjoy reading, playing the guitar, and going outside with my friends and family.
Well, for the time being, that's pretty much it. I have no doubt we'll have wonderful opportunities to know each other better further down the road. Nice to meet you!
Hi!
Hi John! Thank you so much for your feedback 😊
Hi Ana! Parabéns! At first I did not realize that this post was not written by a native speaker (as far as I can tell also not being a native speaker of English). I am looking forward to read more from you!
Hey Linda! Muito obrigada! I really appreciate it. Nice to meet you :)
This is great, Ana. As Linda pointed out, you're well on your way to writing like a native. Keep up the good work!
Hi Ana Carolina! I am very curious to see how you are going with your different approach. I am also Brazilian and I am studying to become and engineer. (Hopefully in less than 10 years I will be able to finish my course lol). And I also discovered my love for languages when trying to improve my English.
Hey Sean. Thank you so much! It means a lot for me. I hope to see you again in my next post :)
Hey Gabriel! That's nice. I'm glad to see a Brazilian here, and more than that an aspiring engineer :) I'm looking forward to seeing your posts!
You’re English is great! I have been learning Spanish during lockdown. I’ve investigated how to learn a new language because I failed to learn French at school. I’m interested in Learning how to learn language now. I’m enjoying the journey. I look forward to your posts.
Hi Ana! Brand new to Journaly and found your post. Just to let you know, I am an English and writing tutor at a local technical college. With that in mind, I must say that your English (and writing) are excellent. Well done! I wish my Spanish was at the level your English is. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
Hi Carrie! First of all, Happy New Year!! Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate it! We usually push ourselves too hard and, comments like yours make us feel better about our progress. Thank you again!
