Too many writers write for the wrong reasons
The quote above is from Bukowski and he was probably right. I do not know any writers. However, I do know people who do things for the wrong reasons. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I've been immersing myself in English, spending most of my time watching movies and videos but sadly, at the same time, I started to feel miserable with too much fun and no hard work. Currently, I'm reading The Black Box by Michael Connely and I feel that my progress with the language is more effective with video and reading combined.
In the end, I was probably looking for some excuse to do nothing and that's OK what is not OK is lie for yourself. Writing to improve my English is a right reason, isn't it?

I think writing to improve your English IS a right reason. I am learning Spanish and up-to-now I have focused heavily on oral comprehension (watching YouTube videos & shows, listening to podcasts). I did very little reading or writing. I am finding that my couple of days in Journaly have made me think a lot more about vocabulary, sentence structure, etc. and saying something in Spanish from scratch. Good luck with your English.
Hi, Reynold! You have to re-structure a phrase on your profile page: I've been learning English since the beginning/start/onset of the pandemic OR I've been learning English since the pandemic began/started. (You wrote you'd appreciated some advice ;-) )
@A_C Thanks for your time, I'm grateful. Learn and apply grammar is a very difficult thing. Good luck you too with your Spanish
@languesbuff I will immediately correct this. Thanks for your help and I'm actually very happy because a lot of people came here to correct me and taught me something. Is this really for free? lol
