I'm now 44 years old. Looking back, I have spent too much time, or to be more precise, I have wasted too much time on activities that had no impact on my life. Too many coffees with friends in cafes, too many hours playing computer games, too many minutes, hours, days spent on my phone and social media.
What I've learned from all the above? That relaxing with doing whatever you want to do is a necessity, but it also has to be a break from your hard work. And by that, of course, I don't mean your daily job.
Jim Rohn, a famous, inspiring motivational speaker, used to say "Work harder on yourself than you do on your job".
I started reading books almost daily when I was thirty-something years old. However, over the last few years, I've been reading biographies, motivational books, and historical books. One exception was the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki, which I had read years before I turned 30.
However, as someone once said, "knowledge alone can't help you reach your potential. You need to apply knowledge".
That changed when I was around 38 years old. After marriage and two children, I started seeing life from a different perspective. My job alone, although I earn a decent salary and work for a major company, it can't give me the life I want to live. Not now, nor in the distant future.
So I have created a plan and work every day towards my goals. Needless to say, I had never set goals in my life before.
Our most valuable asset is time. I know that for sure now.
Spend it wisely!
Thanks for reading!
Wow, amazing post! Right now I'm struggling with time waste, like literally I waste a great deal of time on so unimportant stuff puttering around 🙄 and am starting to hate myself for that Could you recommend your favorite books, or just books you wish you'd have come across before? :D As recently I've really started appreciating value of a good book and reading more actually
Thank you! Two of the books I suggest you read if you want to manage your time at a better manner, are "Atomic habits" by James Clear and "Deep Work" by Cal Newport. The first one is amazing. Give it a try and write me your thoughts after :)
@Dimitrios Deal! 😄 I'll keep you posted :)
Thank you for the great post! I haven't been feeling very motivated lately and that was a very valuable reminder to not waste time and work to improve!
My pleasure :)
Welcome back!
