The book I would most like to see made into a film is “Rock therapy” by L.A. Brier. This novel, in the process of becoming a trilogy, tells us the story of a rock band and the problems they face. The readers are brought inside the two protagonists’ heads as they learn about their lives.

The book starts with the vocalist having a drug overdose and being put into rehabilitation, which is a problematic topic to begin with. Besides drug use being a common plot in movies such as “Requiem for a dream”, I think I haven’t seen one that evolves around a rock band. This itself could be one of the issues filmmakers could encounter when adapting the book, since the writer makes a splendid job portraying how drug abuse affects people physically and, mostly, psychologically.

On the other hand, I imagine that it could be complicated to fully show on a screen how characters feel and what they are thinking. The book relies on internal dialogues a lot, the reader gets to know the characters by getting inside of their heads. Unless you have a narrator in the movie, this could be hard to achieve on the big screen. I feel that, without those inner dialogues, it would be hard for the viewer to empathize with the characters or to understand their motives. However, I also think that it would be interesting to see the characters as they see each other, try to analyze what they say and understand them just by their actions.

To end up with, I believe that “Rock therapy” could be an amazing movie besides the problems that it could present to the filmmakers. It has a very interesting and compelling plot and its characters are so charismatic that, in my opinion, they would be able to dazzle anyone.
