I haven't written any more posts for the Multilingual Book Club 2, but I did it: I read the whole book until the end of August. I'm proud of myself, this is the first time I have not left reading a book in English before finishing it, and I hope it's not the last! I've been a bit absent these days, and I see that the Multilingual Book Club 3 has already started, but this time I will not participate.
I'm a huge fan of "The X Files" series (let's just say I'm a little obsessed with it) and just today I got the book “Devil’s Advocate” by Jonathan Maberry, which is part of the series "The X Files Origins", basically a fan fiction of authorship. I found the book only in English (I think it has not been translated into Italian), so my next reading will be in English again. Furthermore, I haven't given myself a time limit. The book has 352 pages, a big challenge for me. I just want to be able to read it all. I hope my passion for The X Files keeps my motivation high.
I have already read other books by Maberry and I really like his writing style, but I have read them translated into Italian, so I don't know if I will find it difficult in English. I will keep you all informed.
Hi Giulia,
The third round will actually start on Monday, September 13th and Robin chose a book, but you're also welcome to choose your own book. The time limit will be six weeks, so maybe this could be your time range as well :)
Hi Linda, I understood that the book to read was only "Seta" by Baricco (and it would seem a bit strange to me to read an Italian book in a foreign language). Maybe I could participate with "Devil's Advocate", but I prefer not to pressure myself. I will be quite busy in the next few months and I know that I will be reading very slowly.
Congratulations for finishing the book in round two!
@CloudyDe Thank you!
Giulia, if you read your X Files book during this and the next 5 weeks, you are participating in the book club #3 already 🎉. This is a good thing. Robin mentioned in his video(s) that everyone can participate reading whatever they like. I just finished Seta in Italian some minutes ago and I think you don't miss anything by reading something else 😅. I guess that I will skip Novecento and read another self-chosen Italian book. In the end, I think the strategy of choosing a book according to your own interests is a wonderful strategy (in terms of increased motivation). I had the luck to find another Italian book in a book store yesterday in Barcelona (Lo Hobbit :D) and I could imagine to read that (I guess not completely) during the book club #3.
@edufuga Yes,I guess I am doing it. Motivation is really a powerful engine! I have already read 12 chapters (of 84 😅) and any free moment is good to continue reading. I love this book! Did I mention I'm obsessed with The X Files? 😂 Soon I will write another post about this experience.
