Hey there! I'm Fred, a 23-year-old Brazilian guy from a landlocked state in the southeast of Brazil called Minas Gerais. I'm currently living in the capital of the state, a mid-sized city called Belo Horizonte. It's not a huge city but it isn't a village either and I genuinely enjoy living here. So, I'm a geography enthusiast but I've never been abroad. However, this is about to change. I'm preparing to travel to Ukraine and I'm particularly excited about it because it'll be my first international trip.
I've been studying English for almost two years now and I'm confident that my current level will be enough to get by there. Even though English is not widely spoken in Ukraine and I definitely don't speak Ukrainian or Russian, I'll be staying at a hostel with other international students from all over the world and we'll basically just use English to communicate with each other. Besides that, I'll be working as an intern for a Software Engineering Company where I'll also just speak in English. Thus, I hope to improve my English while I'm there and I hope to make new friends as well. When I come back to Brazil I'll have spent two years of my life studying English. Depending on what level I'm able to achieve with these two months of immersion in another country (and I'll keep studying English in the usual way while I'm there) I'll start giving more attention to my Spanish skills. I love Spanish but I honestly haven't gotten the time to take it as seriously as want to yet.
So guys, thanks for taking the time to read this, and I'll see you in the next one. Bye!!
Fred Magno.
Your English is amazing, nice post! I'm happy for you that you'll get to have this experience soon, I hope you have a great time! X
Wow, Fred, great post! Your english sounds very natural to my U.S. ear. Your planned trip to Ukraine sounds like a great opportunity and I hope you enjoy it. Coincidentally, my wife used to travel to Brazil on business and went to Belo Horizonte three or four times. She loved Brazil in general and Minas Gerais in particular. We hope to get back there after we retire in a few years.
Best of luck and keep up the good posts!
Your writing is extremely impressive given that you've been studying for less than two years! I hope you have a great time in Ukraine:)
Hi Fred! I enjoyed reading your post and I hope you decide to share some of your experiences during your travels! I'm hoping to move to Brazil myself sometime in 2021 (hopefully sooner rather than later). I've been to Minas Gerais two times before and I can't wait to go again! I haven't been to Belo Horizonte yet, but I'm sure I'll make it there eventually!
Wow, good luck in Ukraine! I have a Ukrainian friend, and although I can reach her in less than a day (I live in Croatia) I haven't visited her so far. I would just give you a bit of friendly advice - learn some Cyrillic as it could be of great help. :)
Hello Fred! Your English is really wonderful :) I am half Ukrainian and have spent almost a year there over my life from different visits. I am so glad to hear that you are planning on visiting because it is a beautiful country but often gets overlooked like so many others. Best of luck to you!
Hey guys!! Thanks a lot for the comments and the corrections. I genuinely appreciate it :D If any of you need any help with Portuguese, just let me know :) Take care!
Do most people in Ukraine speak English at a high level? I never thought of learning English by going to Ukraine, but I guess you'll need it as a common language.
Hi Fred, I just found this post of yours when filtering for Ukraine. Are you currently there? I hope you're doing well!
Hey Linda! Thanks for your concern. Thankfully I am ok, I lived there for 4 months but I came back to Brazil last year. Yet, the situation is quite bad and I'm trying as much as I can to keep in contact with the friends I've made there.
