Hey MysterZarbi, that's awesome! Did you read it in french? I know that lots of Americans that I have talked to get confused because he talks about french history and places without any background which can make it a harder book to read
You have wonderful literature in France. I would love to be able to read Les Misérables in the original French some day. For now, I can only dream!
Yes I read it in French. I'll try to read "Les Misérables" in English some day. It's a great novel and I recommend you to read it.
MysterZarbi, I started reading Part 1 of "Les Misérables" but put it down about halfway through. The beginning was really interesting and the moment where Jean Valjean realizes the errors of his ways after stealing the little boy's money seemed to be the launching pad for a great story. But the story bogged down and I had trouble following once Hugo started writing about the four female students. I will pick it up again and give it another try.
Why did you like it so much?
Yes it is true that the part about the four female students is not very interesting and that some passages of the book are long. But the rest of the story is really great and I recomend you to continue reading. These are the different characters that made me love this story.
