DAY THREE
(Reading "Fluent in 3 Months: How Anyone at Any Age Can Learn to Speak Any Language from Anywhere in the World" by Benny Lewis)
“…the most important advice I give anyone who is serious about learning to speak a language: you have to speak it from day one.” I’m screwed.
“Since the goal of a language is communication, your top priority should not be to sound perfect, but to make yourself understood.” Still screwed.
Feeling a little overwhelmed as I’m still gathering resources and I don’t feel I’m learning anything. But I asked myself, do I know more Japanese now than I did same time yesterday? Yes, yes I do. All you have to do is learn a new word everyday and it’s progress.
Also, I have an app and it’s not that specific but there are drills to learn different phrases and combined with the book I’m reading it’s easier to learn. So the more the merrier.
A little movie break is needed, let’s see how many words we recognize when we watch a Japanese movie shall we. 10 words recognized and I learned 2 new ones. Hopefully this means I will recognize more words next time and learn even more.
HOMEWORK: Practice the flashcards and make some of my own with phrases that I want to learn.
PS. Quick question for those of you that are learning more than one new language. How to you schedule it? Practice them both at the same time or have certain days for certain languages? How?
