Spoiler alert!
As the title says it may include spoiler, so be careful.
Are you ready?
Let's get into it!
Severus Snape is a fictional character in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.
He warned Harry because of Harry's inattention,
and asked him "What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?"
It's apparently just casual passing words, but it has profound and very interesting meaning.
Asphodel is a type of lily meaning "My regrets follow you to the grave.", and wormwood means "absence" and also symbolically means bitter sorrow.
So the Snape's words means "I bitterly regret Lily's death".
I searched the information in Japanese, but no one mentioned it on the internet.
I may the first Japanese who know this theory.
That's definitely one of the great joys of learning languages.
I'd never knew it were it not for my English learning journey.
I'm really excited! I hope you guys enjoy your language learning journey!
See you at the next post!
Farewell!
