People have been trying to learn different languages for several reasons.Although some claim that it is learned just for traveling or working in other countries, in my opinion, even though traveling and working purposes are obviously main factors of learning languages, however, these reasons can not be limited by them.
Knowing foreign languages may provide people to communicate with other people across the world and have a wide range of perspectives about life. In the modern world, it is very essential that people gain new approaches and attitudes to flourish their lives. In secondary school, for example, our English teacher encouraged us to have a pen pal from a different country and she arranged an organization about that. Thanks to that I was able to communicate with a high school student from UK and ı did learn a lot of things from her. I could speak with her due to English and we affected each other beneficially,ı read a different kind of books and watched a film due to my pen pal's recommendation and it was so useful for me.
On the other hand, having the capability of using a foreign language results in being able to benefit from foreign language sources such as books, films, plays, courses which are may make significant contributions to people's lives in different ways and it is one of the important reasons why the people learn foreign languges.İt is obvious that having a talent using different languages product is not only the key to personal development but also it leads to understanding properly and feeling more satisfaction from them. Watching films and theatre games or reading books in an original style is not the same with translation versions, for example.
To conclude, learning a foreign language has different kinds of causes including working in different countries or traveling. However, there are some other reasons which are should not be neglect such as communicating and using different sources
What an interesting text and point of view :) In my personal opinion, The reasons to be learning a language must be the same as the one that people use to commit themselves to any other thing, it must make total sense to the one who's cultivating it, as long as the reason is really personal. for example, I know a person who speaks fluent English, and they have already talked to multiple americans throughout their lives, and you know what is their reason? just to be able to play online with foreigners haha, so, for me, it totally depends on the person who's learning it.
