Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement. To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?

(I have tried to write an essay about this topic)

Recycling is one of the most essential issues to address seriously. Although most people aware of how it is important, they don't make enough effort to contribute to it. Therefore, it is crucial that government make regulation about it. Admittedly, these kinds of legal obligations are the most efficient and only way to raise recycling for several reasons.

As the governments make new rules about recycling, this issue more likely to be more popular and attract lots of attention. In Turkey, for example, a couple of years ago the government put new legal requirements about plastic bags which is banned from taking free plastic bags from markets and other stores. These rules led to people use more recyclable bags and suddenly people started to paying attention to this case. Moreover, the large number of tv programs gave space for recycling they prepared short ads which showed the importance of recycling and the consequences of not recycling.

Legal regulations may make significant differences practically and effectively. A big proportion of recycling comes from big companies. If there are not enough legal responsibilities, a profit which providing by big companies' and factories' recycling can be lost. However, well-establish recycling law regulation leads to both saving money and protecting the environment.

To conclude, recycling is a so important issue that shouldn't rely on people's choices and decisions should be regulated by the government properly.
