The vaccine rollout is EXTREMELY slow in Brazil. So far, 24% of the population have received the 1st dose and only 11% (!!!) have been fully vaccinated which is ridiculous considering we had all the means to buy vaccines LAST YEAR but our president simply chose not to! We only bought them THIS YEAR!!!!! 2021!!!!!
Anyways.
I got my Astrazeneca shot yesterday and I'm a huge hypochondriac so it was a bit.. bittersweet. In other countries, people my age (21) are being offered alternative vaccines, as there have been some cases of blood clotting in young adults. I would be lying if I said I'm 100% at ease with that fact but it has been proven that COVID actually offers waaay higher chances of blood clotting, so the benefits outweigh the risks, I guess. The side effects afterwards are a bit annoying too (fever, body aches, etc), but of course I imagine the actual disease is way worse so... I can't really complain, can I? By the way, the only reason I could get vaccinated so early is because I'm an intern at a school. So many of my friends and family don't even know when they'll be able to get their shots, which is absolutely infuriating...
The rest of the world probably doesn't know how bad the situation in Brazil actually is right now and, to be honest, not day dreaming about killing politicians every day sounds really nice.. I wish I could just avoid the news and get on with my life, but seeing friends and family die every couple weeks makes it impossible to ignore the shit job this government has been doing.
Vaccines to all!!! PLEASE take yours when the time comes!

Nicely written text. Your frustration with the vaccination roll-out is very understandable.
I'm from Brazil too and I know it's really very complicated... i hope one day can write a text like you with no mistakes
