I've just returned from the English club that is carried out at/in a local library every two weeks and this time we've had a Zoom meeting with an American lady who lives in our country longer than me :) Today's topic was about buzzwords and, without further ado, I'd like to share with some of new phrases I've learned :) Perhaps there are some of them you already know so, please, correct me if I'm wrong or write down your examples~

Likewise, I'll give us some of my examples :)

1. pearl clutching

it is a movement that we make with our hands putting them between the neck and chest and sigh

to change something noticeably

We set up a campaign and its surpose is to move the needle on the environmental situation. He wants to speak Greek fluently and has high hopes that this app will move the needle on his writing skills.

5. to thread the needle

a situation where no progress con be made

this business is a gridlock. We are gridlocked with this task

7. to unring the bell

to undo something, what's done is done

You can't just unring the bell after what you have said to her.

8. to get your ducks in a row

to organize something

to set up a good party, firstly, they gotta tidy up the room, set the table ...just get their ducks in a row beforehand
