Recently, I discovered a writer whose books are hooking on me. Her name is Kathy Reichs and the genre of her books is “medical thriller”. Besides being a writer, she is a forensic anthropologist, as is the main character of her books: Temperance Brennan, who works at the “Institute of Legal Medicine” in Montreal, and she actively cooperates with cops, investigating violent death’s cases. Analyzing the bones of the corpses, she can discover if the victims were men or women, their age, the cause of death and many other useful things.

I read the first book in three days, and I am already halfway through the second book. The series includes 22 books. I don’t know if I’ll read all of them.

I’d like trying to read the books in English (their original language), but they are very technical, and sometimes they are difficult in my language too. And, sometimes you must have “a strong stomach” (Do you have this idiomatic expression in English?), because the writer does not spare any detail, and they can be very creepy. She makes a large use of cliffhangers, too, so at the end of a chapter you always have the curiosity to know how it continues.

The TV show “Bones” is inspired by these books. It is enjoyable, but it has only the name and the profession of the protagonist in common with the books.
