Hello everyone! I hope it was a good week for you. I wish you another great week and here’s the Part 2 of The Little river story.
Part one here https://journaly.com/post/5629
There wasn’t a gust of wind, not a cloud in the sky that day. The sun was backing their backs and faces, while there were going through the town’s beach, which already was half filed with citizens, represented mostly by older population, who were already free of the work duties for some years. Their only duties now were the rest under the sun and, sometime, they were need to play nanny’s role with their grandchildren, while their children were working. Nobody was pay attention to three intruders going across the beach.
-This heat will kill me. – said Tim crossly. -Is it too hard to make a small hurricane?! Please, God, give us a tornado! Please, please! With plenty of cold wind and water! Just one tornado and I’ll be a happiest boy on the planet.
- Yeah. And then you’ll be begging God to give you some heat. - You just need a good kick in the ass, to make you happy. – said Bobby. He kicked him as strong as he could, and run towards the trees which stood quietly on the other side of the beach.
-You stinky jerk, Bobby. - shouted Tim and together with laughing Kathy they were running into the pursuit.
Tree minutes later choking after the running they were under the trees cover. It’s got a little bit colder and darker abruptly. The air was filled with tens of different nature’s smells, where tart wooden smell was dominate. Have you ever noticed that when it’s too hot, when there’s 100-degree Fahrenheit on the streets, smells are dying?
- Which way now. – said Kathy. – Where is your secret beach, Bobby?
- Give me a break. – said Timmy. - I need just ten minutes to lie on this beautiful chill ground.
- You have five, lazy snail. – said Bobby. – I just need to find the marks. – He was looking on the trees staying around. - Got it! Here the way. – He walked forward pushing away dense and here and there sharp bush branches.
Kathy and Tim stood up quickly and hurried after the friend, afraid to lose sight of him.
- Hey, Bobby! Wait for us! - shouted Kathy. - Where’re you?
- Don’t panic. I’m right here. - Rang out his voice somewhere nearby.
- Just stay where you’re. We’re lost. – shouted Tim.
- Little cowards. – Laughed Bobby. – I’m just in front of you. Ok. Here I’m.
They heard the breaking branches sound, and Bobby Simpson appeared in front of his friends.
- Come on guys. Ten minutes more and we’ll be there. What’s wrong with you? It’s just our native grove. There’re no wild animals here, not even a single werewolf. – Bobby laughed loudly.
- Fool! You just a little fool boy. – said Kathy, giving him a slap on the head.
Where we’re now? – said Tim. He was looking around. - I’ve never been here before. It’s too much trees here. Have we ever been this part of the grove?
- I don’t think so. – said Bobby. – But, what can I say, that it’s not too far from the town’s beach, not too far from the river and either not too far from the BDKSH. We just never went here. It’s all the mystery. So, it’s ok now? Can we go further?
- Ok. Just not go so quick, so we could get lost again – said Kathy, brushing off sticked leaves and needles from her jeans. – Just be nearby.
And soundless they were going further through the thicket. It took about fifteen minutes, when in began to start brighter, and that meant that the grove was finally over.
- Hurray! -Laughed Tim. – We’re finally here and we’re alive. Hurray!
- Quit! – Said Bobby. - Don’t you hear, there’re voices there?
- What? Which voices?
- Quit, I said. – Silently said Bobby. He turned to the friends and showed them by gesture that they should be soundless
The beach was already almost visible in about 10 meters of them, but despite they were still in the grove and plenty of bushes were in front of them, they’ve really heard voices. There were two men’s voices, which loudly argued about something.
While his friends froze, Bobby started to wade through the bushes to voices direction.
- Bobby, stop. – Whispered to him Kathy. – I think something wrong there. Can’t you hear it?
- Just by one eye. I want to see who’re there. – Bobby continued to move forward.
Ten seconds later, the loud sound of electricity lauded abruptly and they were saw a black flash. It was looked like if somebody turned on the big black projector, or somebody just turned of the day light. And then were nothing. Not a voice, just silence.
Frightened friends were looking at each other with big eyes. Their hearts were rushed out. In this silence, it seemed their can hear a heart beat of each other. It took about 5 minutes to comeback to reality, when one of them started to talk.
- Are you still looking for mystery, Timmy? – said Bobby quietly. - Well, you find it. Do you hear something? It seems that nobody is there already. Let’s check out.
- No way! Never you see me going there! – said Tim, still hardly impressed with what happened.
- You, Kathy?
- Didn’t you see what happened here?! – lauded Kathy on her friend. I’m going home right now. You can do whatever you want, Bobby. I’m going out of here as quick as is possible. Are you with me, Timmy?
- Agree. We should to get out of here! Bobby. Let’s just go home, please! – He looked at his friend pleadingly.
- Ok. I need just five minutes, and we go. – said Bobby. Won’t you dye for five minutes? Will you wait for me? I just need to see what was happened there. Ok?
- Just five minutes, Bobby! Not a second more. I swear, we won’t be waiting for you longer. – said Kathy irritably.
But Bobby didn’t listen to her anymore, he started to move to the beach direction.
I really liked your story Anton! It really built up the suspense nicely, and the characters were pretty funny with their dialogue. Keep up the good work buddy!
