Last month, I attended an exhibit featuring Akira Uno, who is one of the most famous Japanese illustrators. I'd seen his works before, but I didn't know his name until I visited his exhibit.
He's really good at creating his own unique world, which looks dark and mysterious.
Akira depicted his first portrait at the age of 15, and it already looks amazing.
After graduating from art school, he got a job as an illustrator at Calpis.
Later, Akira became a freelance illustrator. Since then, he's been working for varieties of companies.
The illustration in the picture below was my favorite in the exhibit. It looks very dreamy and fantasy.
He's illustrated many children books as well.
Akira also has created several works as homages to famous artists. The first piece is a tribute to, Pablo Piccasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. I think he did a wonderful job of capturing the feature of Picasso's art.
The next one is for a French Post-Impressionist painter, Paul Cézanne.
The last one is to Caravaggio, an Italian painter who had influenced the most to Baroque painting. I think this piece is also great.
He's also depicted some Disney princesses such as Belle from the Beauty and the Beast.
Ariel from the Little Mermaid.
And Snow White.
At the end of the exhibit, the walls were fully covered with posters Akira had worked.
