I used to take conversational English lessons at an online school based in the Philippines about twenty years ago. All the teachers are Filipino, and I became friends with some of them. We still keep in touch even though I left the school long time ago.

Last night, I received some messages from one of my former English teachers. She was one of my favorite teachers because we were close in age. She was a university professor and teaching English online was her second job. Every time I took her lessons, we enjoyed just chitchatting. She's going to come to Japan with her French boyfriend and visit Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. She asked me whether we could meet up. After exchanging several text messages, she called me via Messenger. I heard her voice for the first time in twenty years. When I heard her accent, the memories of those days immediately popped up in my mind. I was overcome with nostalgia.

We're finally going to meet in person for the first time in twenty years! I never imagined that I would get to meet her in person. Life is full of unexpected surprises, and that's why it's so fascinating. I'm really looking forward to meeting up her.
