Can I Translate These Manga Titles?

Just an idea, it may be fun to translate my favorite manga titles into English and look for the official translation. Most titles are originally in English, though.

「ミステリと言う勿れ」

Mine: Don’t call this story a mistery

Official: Do Not Say Mystery

The official title is really simple and cool, so it’s best. Besides, I made a miss-spelling.

「青野くんに触りたいから死にたい」

Mine: I wanna die since I wanna touch Aono-kun

Official: I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die

Although I stuck to English word order, my translation isn’t so bad, is it?

「きのう何食べた?」

Mine: What did you eat for last dinner?

Official: What Did You Eat Yesterday?

I could have right answered… Why did I think it’s dinner? Additionally, I should have written yesterday’s dinner because ChatGPT says that last dinner can mean the end of life.

「逃げるは恥だが役に立つ」

Mine: Running away is ashame but useful

Official: The Full-Time Wife Escapist

I can’t completely agree with the official title. My direct translation was wrong (ashame → shameful), but the original title comes from a saying in Hungary, so I think it’s best to translate the original one into English.

「寄生獣」

Mine: Parasite Monster

Official: Parasyte

What an interesting! There is also word play in English similar to Japanese.

By the way, these five comics aren’t my best, but all of them will move your emotion.

Please read them if you get a chance.
