Have you heard about the painter Vermeer? He was a Dutch painter who left only 35 pieces through his lifetime. For some reason, he's really popular in Japan. Every time, some of his art pieces come to Japan, many people try to attend the exhibits.

This year, the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art is holding an art exhibit featuring his most famous painting, Girl with a Pearl Earring. The museum announced that this would be the last chance to see the painting in Japan, and they decided to use a lottery system. If we won the lottery, we could attend the exhibit. I applied the lottery more than five times, but unfortunately I couldn't win. Neither my daughter, my son-in-law, any of my friends won either. I wonder who actually got the tickets.

A couple of years ago, my American friend Matt shared a very interesting video about Vermeer with me. It suggested that he might have used a camera and traced the images when creating his paintings. I'm not sure if it was true, but his paintings are very precise and really good at capturing light and shadow.
