Hello, today's theme is, as you can assume it from today's tittle, I will describe what differences between the two languges while I learning English and things I realized.
First thing is weather expression. When I want to say It's hot today, I have to say the form not "Today is hot". In Korea grammar, that today is hot, is natural. The reason that makes this difference is I'm not sure, but it is because of the rule of expressing weather. For instance, today'll be tough day. It's okay because it's not weather expression. But, that today is so hot, is akwakrd. The hot is only used with it to express weather. If you are Korean, you can easily make a mistake in this situation. In my opinion, that today is hot, is more efficient because "Today is hot" is simple and less words than "it is hot today." I think it is might be better if both could be interchangeable.
It's time for wrap up. Thanks for reading. Your corrections are definitely welcome. Bye.
(Next theme would be the second differences)
English and Korean grammar are definitely widely different, it's a struggle. Even reading this, I feel I need to see the explanation in Korean to grasp what you are talking about haha
Yes, It needs some times for understanding structures between two languages. I think English has many grammar rules. Like "that", that has many grammars including relative pronoun, subordinating conjunction, appositive that, demonstrative pronoun. It's driving me mess. haha
@YuMiFan Yeah, if I wasn't a native English speaker I would curse English even more than I already do haha if things make no sense to me I can't imagine having to learn it as an adult! Grateful I learned all these rules at some point in school so I can speak it but oof trying to explain why something is the way it is now just makes me want to shrug that's just how it is!
and It's hot, It's windy. Like these sentence "It" has no meaning, just for filling the subject. However, In Korean, we don't need "It", we just say 덥다(hot), 춥다(cold). I think It's structure difference when you make sentence.
@LoveofLearningKorean yeah, by contrast, We can say English has more detailed rules, which means It prevent misunderstanding. Korean sentence can be understood variously, differently. Sometimes, it's vague. Thanks for your thoughts. :)
