Last month, my husband and I met up with his aunt in Nara, and we first had lunch at our favorite restaurant. She lives in Tsuzawa in Toyama Prefecture, which is my husband's late father's hometown. He passed away three years ago, but when we listened to her dialect, it reminded us with him.

After lunch, we visited Kōfuku-ji because she wanted to see Asura statue which is one of Japan's National Treasures, so we first attended a museum to see it. Unfortunately, photography wasn't allowed, but I took a picture of the poster below. I hope it gives you an idea of what we saw.

This temple was originally founded in 669 and is one of Japan's oldest surviving temple buildings. During the WWII, most of its National Treasures were evacuated and could avoid to be damaged.

I've visited lots of temples in Nara, and I'm always amazed by their impressive scale. I feel overwhelmed.

This temple is famous for its beautiful five-story pagoda, but unfortunately it's been repairing for the first time in 120 years. It has planed to be completed in 2033. We had been looking forward to seeing it, so when we found out it was covered for restoration, we all were very disappointed.
