Lunch and Hydrangeas

Last month, my parents, my husband and I got together to enjoy seeing hydrangeas. Before that, we had lunch at a soba (a type of Japanese noodle) restaurant. My parents ate hot soba, and my husband and I ate cold one.

After lunch, we visited a park in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, where more than 10,000 hydrangeas have been planted.

At first, the shocking pink ones caught our eyes. We'd never seen such a vibrant colored hydrangea before, and we all were impressed.

For some reason, I like white hydrangeas, and the one in the picture below became one of my favorites. There were so many varieties that we talked about which ones we liked the best. It was fascinating to see how everyone's taste was different. My mom liked the shocking pink one, while my dad liked a quite standard purple one. My husband liked the lacecap hydrangeas.

The standard purple one in the picture below is my dad's favorite.

Although we saw several varieties of lacecap hydrangeas, my husband liked the one in the picture below.

It was great exercise for my parents to walk on such a flat path, while admiring pretty hydrangeas. My dad had fun taking lots of pictures as usual.

We spotted some rice cakes named "Hydrangeas", so I bought two for us, and two for my parents.

They were filled with sweet red bean paste and were delicious.
