I live in western in Japan, and growing gooseberry plants here isn't easy. Although they are cultivated in Japan, they're mainly grown in the northern regions such as Nagano, Tohoku, and Hokkaido, so I need a little extra care to my plant.
My gooseberry is weak at both the summer heat and the winter cold, so I've been growing it in a pot. That's way, I can move it to a best spot every time. In summer I place it a shady spot while I keep it in a sunny spot in winter. It's now two years old and produced several fruit this year as well. Last year it produced a few, so I'm happy with its progress.
I'd like to grow the plant much bigger, so I'm planning on replanting it into a larger pot. I truly hope it'll stay healthy and bear much more fruit next year!
