Hi Journalers!
This is my first post ever on this website and I spent more time than I'd like to admit choosing a title and an image.
The main reason I started this account is to regain the writing skill. Yes, you read it right, regain. Since I finished High School, I really haven't had the necessity to write, and the fact that I'm a software developer also doesn't help it at all. And to think that when I was a young student I used to love reading and writing and, if I say so myself, was praised all the time by the teachers, for my creativity, writing style and choice of words.
You might be wondering, "well, doesn't a software developer spend the whole day tapping on the keyboard and that counts as writing?". Wrong! The closer I get to writing a full page is when documenting the code and the program's features, which isn't the most optimal genre for practicing writing, improving vocabulary and exercising your "linguistical" part of the brain, in my opinion. And it gets worse when we have ChatGPT doing this boring task for us in a matter of seconds.
As you may have noticed, English isn't my first language and this effort I'm doing in keeping a journal also counts as a way of practicing the language and improving my vocabulary. Lately, I noticed that there are several options for practicing foreign languages with the help of AI, but nothing beats sharing knowledge with a human being. I'm also kind of tired of the AI's writing style, to be quite frank. It's not resistance. It's AI fatigue. (get it? 😂). Oh gosh, I can't even write in my own mother tongue anymore! And that has to change.
I really hope to have back the same level of creativity and fluidity as I once used to, if not more! I'll try to write every other day, if not daily.
