Recently, I have visited some apartments in my city and I noticed that they are becoming much smaller than I have ever seen. My city is the biggest city in my country and the real estate sector is still in a big expansion. The standard apartment of the new bildings has 30m² and two bedrooms, how can it be possible? The bedrooms are really small and I pretty sure that the owner is not thinking of a big family living in these places. This makes me thinking about the new family structure in big cities and the new way that our generation is thinking about this issue.

My grandma had her first child at eighteen years old and she had been already married at this time - as any girl in her age. My mom got married and had her first child at twenty-eight years old, in that time people make fun of her and considered her too old for this. This year, I announced to my friends and family that I will get married, at twenty-seven years old, and to my surprise, everyone said that I too young for that and should think better. How has it changed so fast? In just three generations a completely different society point of view of the marriage age.

I believe that this increasing demand for smaller apartments is intrinsically related to the size of family nowadays and the thoughts about the marriage of our generation. People are more focused on building their carrier first and have a good financial situation for then think about building a family. I am pretty sure that my grandma and even my mom passed through a lot of struggles to raise their children before grow in their carries and gain more money. When our generation decides to finally have a family, normally choose to have just one child or maybe just a pet - the unique family size that can barely fit in an apartment of 30m² with two bedrooms.
