If someone breaks the law and is given a punishment, what penalty is more effective: community service or a fine? All crimes should be followed by community service because it helps better to prevent subsequent infractions.
To begin with, individuals have to spend a lot of time doing monotonous work for the community, which can sometimes be more than 100 hours for just a bad act that took just seconds to commit. This makes offenders value time and not violate the law again.
Secondly, during community service, these people have time to think about their bad behaviour and the damage it caused. They realize their mistakes and learn a good lesson.
Thirdly, it gives them an opportunity to make new friends among other convicts doing the public work and share each other's stories, experiences and feelings, which helps them learn from the mistakes of others.
To recap, community service makes offenders waste a lot of time doing grunt work instead of just paying a fine, which positively affects on mind. The lesson learned helps them to avoid future offences.
