A few years ago, we went to the beach while on holiday. It was sunny and we went swimming. I had forgotten to put sunscreen on my back. When we got home, my back was completely burnt. I decided to buy a cucumber, cut it into pieces and put the pieces on my back. Because we were staying in a hotel, we hadn't brought a knife with us. I went to reception to ask if they had a potato peeler. ‘Here, take this,’ said the receptionist and gave me a knife of about 60 cm long, ‘bring it back when you're done.’ I immediately thought: what am I supposed to do with such a big knife? I just need to cut a cucumber into pieces. Anyway, I went back to the hotel room, chopped the cucumber into pieces and had the pieces placed on my back. Then I lay there for about half an hour. After I got up again, I decided to return the knife to reception. I walked into the hotel corridor and saw people rushing into their rooms as quickly as possible. Downstairs, the reception had already closed. A night porter was sleeping on a bed behind the desk. I woke him up and he saw the knife I was carrying. He was terrified and asked what I was going to do with the knife. I explained what I had done with it. Feeling a little uncomfortable, I gave him back the knife and thanked the hotel for their help. Then I walked back to our hotel room. I didn't sleep a wink that night...
