Do you like fireworks? I do! For some reason, they always makes me feel excited!
When do you usually see them? I guess in many places, people watch fireworks to celebrate holidays, New Years, or as an attraction at amusement parks like Disneyland. In Japan, fireworks are symbol of summer. You can see many young women wearing yukata, a kind of summer kimono on those days to enjoy watching them.
There was a firework festival two days ago in my neighborhood. I was born and raised in Shiga Prefecture, which is famous for Lake Biwa (the biggest lake in Japan). Every summer there is a huge firework festival near the lake, so whenever I see them, they remind me of my childhood. My parents' house locates perfect to watch them from the house. I used to enjoy watching them with my parents, my sister, my cousins, and my friends. I especially loved the large boom that following the big fireworks. As a child, I would watch and wait for that sound. Back then, there weren't drones at all.
Now, drones are taking over fireworks. The event in my neighborhood also started with a drone show. It was quite interesting because the show was presented by Tokyo Disneyland, even though it's far from here. I guess Disney is one of the spongers for the fireworks. I wondered why Tokyo Disneyland involved because we have Universal Studios in Osaka, which is much closer.
I tried to take good pictures, but it was really hard with my cell phone.
The three pictures below are from my daughter. Since she lives closer to the venue than I do, hers look much better.
We've passed the firework festival, and the weather has finally started shifting toward fall. I know I'll soon miss this summer heat.
