Over the last few decades, the way that business is done has changed dramatically due to major advantages in technology. Many companies hire their employees overseas when looked at today's world and they don't require them to be in the office every day as employees can work on the computer at home. This essay will examine the pros and cons of working from home, respectively.
Firstly, one of the biggest advantages of working from the comfort of your home is that you can feel comfortable setting your schedule as you wish. For example, if you have to do some housework, you can plan to do it in line with your program, which means that you can be your own boss as you plan your day by yourself. Furthermore, as you don't have a boss who breathes down your neck, the effectiveness of what you produce can increase. The other plus point is that employees working from home do not have to commute to work every day as opposed to people working at the office. Driving for work daily or using public transportation with tens of people can be tedious and stressful.
Turning to the disadvantages of working from home, first of all, it can be a tedious job after a while, though it seems comfy and less stressful than that of the office option. I mean that as you can not build relationships and strike up friendships as you do at the workplace, this situation can hurt your communication and social skills. As people need some change in their lives, working every single day from home can be monotonous.
Moreover, bouncing the ideas off with your colleagues and co-workers would be difficult. However, you turn around and speak to someone behind you and get an instant answer to your question at the office.
The second drawback can be the distraction matter while working at home. As you can imagine, there can be much distraction because you can not wholly keep your work and home life separate. While the dishes are waiting for you to wash them, you can not be expected to work effectively.
To conclude, working from home involves both pros and cons, which making a decision can be a double-edged sword. Despite the fact that it removes commuting issues and gives more freedom to employees, many can find it boring and difficult because of distractions. I believe it is essential to find a work-life balance to produce effective work.
An interesting and well written post. Just a few minor tweaks needed to improve things further.
Very nicely written and I have nothing to add to the corrections already made. I find it very interesting that a lot of people are weighing the pros and cons of working from home lately, because I've been working from home for almost 15 years and absolutely love it. I find there are lots of ways to compensate for the lack of social interaction at work via other activities. I also have a lot more energy for socializing with friends and family and pursuing my interests because my energy isn't drained all day in superficial interactions at work. I'm also far more efficient, get more work done in less time, therefore have more time left to do other things outside of work. It is true though, that working from home takes discipline and you have to learn to ignore distractions, schedule your work time, and stick to it.
THANK YOU @Lynne for the corrections!
Thank you, @Larkspur ... I was thinking about this issue recently, and yes, I totally agree with you that working from home can give you more freedom as you use your time wisely. But throughout this pandemic period, as everybody is home, there have been lots of distractions too. So it can be a changeable situation among people. But I really congratulate you that you get a high level of efficiency by working from home! hope it continues like that!!
