Last month, I visited a pottery exhibition in Miyama, Kyoto with two of my friends and bought a lovely handmade vase. I wrote about that trip here. Since then, I'd decorated the vase in the tokonoma (traditional alcove) and I've been looking for a nice flower stand to go with it.
A couple of days ago, I discovered that the vase was broken! When I saw it, I was very shocked.
There are four suspects in my house.
Suspect 1: My husband, who recently retired and now spends most of his time at home.
Suspect 2: My innocent but playful grandson, who comes to our house from Monday to Friday after nursery school for two to three hours until his parents finish work.
Suspect 3: My dog, who used to be playful but is now an elderly lady at 11 years old.
Suspect 4: My cat, who doesn’t seem to have any interest in pottery vases.
I've already finished investigating my husband. According to him, he never even touch it. Then, I tried to investigate my grandson, but that was tricky. I don't think he fully understood what I was asking. After that, I questioned both my dog and cat, which was even harder. My dog answered by wagging her tail, while my cat ignored me completely. He wouldn’t even make eye contact.
I still don't know who is the criminal.
Fortunately, I know how to fix it. I took the broken vase to my kintsugi class last Sunday and started repairing it. It’s not too difficult, so I’m confident I can restore it beautifully. Even though it's been broken, it'll turn into beautifully again.
Once it's finished , I'll share it with you here.

Oh my, they are beautiful! And what a terrible tragedy for Elle and his owner. So sorry to hear that man got so badly hurt. Thank you for sharing the post with me.
You are welcome.
@Snarf I'm sorry that I wasn't nice when I responded. I thought I received an odd question. When I chatted with your dad, I knew who you are. Please accept my apology.
Anyway, welcome to Journalry. I'm looking forward to reading your posts!
Oh thank you, Yumi! Well, with a name like snarf, how could you know who I am!? Plus, I thought it was very efficient to send me to a post with pet pictures. So, no apology needed. I’m excited to be able to see all the beautiful pictures you post that my dad always tells me about.
Thank you for understanding. I hope you enjoy reading other people's posts, communicating with them, writing your own journals, and more!
