A　ｂさん、「Dad　Joke」のが好きですか？

     Hey, B, do you like Dad Jokes?

B　え、「Dad joke」ってなんですか？    

 What’s a Dad Joke?

A　笑えない冗談という意味です。

     It’s a joke that’s not very funny.

B　どういう意味？ 

      What does that mean?

A　例えば‥あ、今何時？

      Well, for example… What time is it?

B　１２時です。

      It’s noon. 

A　ブブ！おやじです！

      Nope! It’s the middle ages!

B　あ、そうね。わかった。あんまりおもしろくなかったな。でもさ、なんで「オヤジギャグ」ですか？

　  Oh, yup you’re right that was mildly humorous at best. Why are we talking about Dad Jokes, again?

A　もし異国の人を笑わせたら、すぐに仲良くなれるはずですね。人間関係を作る事について冗談は大切でしょう。

　Well,  if you can make someone laugh, then you will build relationships  quicker. So, jokes are an important part of making friends with foreign people, don’t you think?

B　そのことは納得できる。

      I can get behind that.

A　私の一番好きな冗談の種類は「おやじギャグ」です。基本的な冗談ですからね。英語でこれは「Dad Jokes」といいます。例えば、「世界中に一番面白いバスケ選手は誰ですか？」

     My favorite kind of joke, is オヤジギャグ . I like it because it is the most basic kind of joke. In English we call them, ‘Dad Jokes’ For example、 who is the funniest basketball player in the world?

B　んっと‥あ、わかった！Michal 冗談でしょう？  

  uh… I got it, Michal Jordan!

A　ナイス！Michal 冗談です！面白くない？

      Nice! You got it! Funny right?

B　ま、ね‥。　

　I guess..
