Yesterday, on the 18 of February 2021, the rover called Perseverance landed without any problems on the surface of the red planet. I watched it live on my phone. We could see a part of the Nasa team waiting during the descent of the rover. We could feel their concentration and even the tension in the room. When, finally, Perseverance landed without a scratch, the whole team applaused and was so happy and relieved. It was amazing to watch this in real time.
The purpose of this mission is to find out whether Mars was once supporting life. The rover will in the next few years collect a bunch of samples of, for instance, the soil, the atmosphere, etc. It is a big step forward to Mars exploration, and maybe one day, humans will put a foot on the red planet.
Great post, Marina! Your English is really strong. I'm also a physics student, so I was super excited about this as well. I'm looking forward to seeing what the rover discovers. I hope you have a nice day!
