I talked a little about insects today. I recorded the Japanese version too, but there might be some slightly cheeky language in the Japanese version ๐ Hope itโs still helpful for your practice!

Your English is very nice, Aki. Very good & clear pronunciation.
My Japanese is zero, so I can't really help with those unknown words. I can tell you that the "mosquito cloud" is very familiar. In Ireland we call that bug a "midge" (pronounced midjee/midjees plural (stress on the 'i')), so a swarm of midges. If I'm not mistaken, they're also known as "gnats" (silent G).
"Daddy long legs" is stressed on the word "long", daddy LONG legs.
"Stop it" is stressed on the "stop". STOP it!
Grammatically, I can't really fault you. I think you missed an -ed in "when I looked at it..."
I really like insects and there's very few I dislike, namely mosquitos (death and dishonour to their ancestors), big spiders and anything parasitic. Love beetles, moths, caterpillars, weevils... I saw my first praying mantis last summer, I felt like a little kid again!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment!
I recorded myself because I really want to improve my spoken English. Your detailed advice on stress and pronunciation was really helpful. Iโll try to be more mindful of word stress next time :)
And yes, I totally understand the "death and dishonour to their ancestors" feeling! There's an Irish, literary humour to that line. I like it :)
By the way, do you have cockroaches in Ireland? I often think, โDeath and dishonour to the ancestors of cockroaches!โ And yes, cockroach season is just around the corner...
I didn't see a cockroach until I moved countries at 25 years old, so I guess not! Mosquitos neither. Both are undeniably gross, but at least cockroaches will stay out of your way. I imagine you have some fascinating creepy-crawlies in Japan ))

@GodfatherTed Yes, there are many creepy-crawlies! When I find them in a small, enclosed space like a bathroom, we both freeze. Neither of us can move... But once they decide to run, they move insanely fast. And I totally panic :D
