Entre las nuevas generaciones de estadounidenses ha surgido el concepto del “equilibrio trabajo-vida”. As the presence of women in the workplace has surged, and parents, whether male or female, have become increasingly involved in their children’s development, the notion of prioritizing life at home has become more and more attractive. Our apathy towards work became more glaring during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the separation between work and life was more difficult to discern. After starting to work from home, most people began to choose “home” over “work.” Productivity declined during these years, and it continues to decline as many still do work from home. Those who returned to the workplace have missed the comfort of always being near their private toilets, their soft beds and their favorite people. The memory of this cushy lifestyle will always remain in our psyche, rotting away at our ambitions to produce, serve, and wonder at the world outside the boxes we inhabit.
