When I went out for a walk this evening, I realized that it was snowing! I live in western Japan, where snow is rare. I told my dog, "We're going to get wet because of the snow!", but she didn't seem to care about it at all. Holding an umbrella, I started walking with her.
While walking, I thought about my previous dog. She loved walking in the snow because she had lived in Nagano and Fukui Prefectures. Both prefectures are famous for heavy snowfall. Whenever it snowed, she jumped around excitedly and went crazy. She dashed into the snow at full speed. Since she was a black Lab, she stood out beautifully from the white snow. It was adorable watching she and my daughter playing together.
Then, I realized that my current dog had never seen snow before. I spoke to her, "Hey, what do you think of this white thing? It's called snow. Do you like it? Once it piles up, you'll have so much fun playing in it." She looked up at me for a moment but she seemed like she was focusing on walking. So, I also focused on walking.
I don’t think we’ll get enough snowfall for her to play in like we used to. That thought made me feel a little sorry for her.

What a nice story! I like dogs playing in snow. It's so funny seeing them:)
Is it possible that Yumi @yumiyumayume , in addition to other things, it is the stronger scent of nature that dogs like when it snows? Snow, by trapping smells differently, makes dogs explore more by sniffing out traces more intensely.
