SHOULD ZOOS BE CLOSED?

by

The presence of zoos has been questioned a lot recently, and opinions differ about whether they benefit humans and animals or whether they should be closed.

Initially, we need to think about negative issues with zoos; I mean, there is a widespread opinion that zoos cause animals to suffer in cages as they are being deprived of wildlife. Since these wild animals belong to their natural habitat, holding them in restricted places like zoos appears to most people unethical. Furthermore, these beasts forget how to hunt as time goes by, which is completely against their instinct.

Some people claim that these initiatives involving zoos are just money-making ventures, so venturers care for animals last as their primary goal is making money. According to those, there is no moral right to use animals to entertain people coming to visit them. Therefore the animals should be allowed to stay in their own environment.

In terms of alternatives, we should consider wildlife conservation, as all creatures take their place in the natural cycle, so taking these living creatures out of their habitat will do nothing but destroying the natural order. So allowing these animals to live in their own environment and visiting them in their habitats will create a significant change as these animals will alleviate psychological pressure stemmed from being in closed places. In this situation, the governments and airlines have to take responsibilities like setting more flights and reducing the ticket prices enabling us to see these animals in wildlife.

As we can see, zoos are not the only way for humans to see and learn about wild animals. If there were no zoos, it would still be possible for scientists and the general public to preserve and experience nature.
