Trying Japanese Calligraphy

by

So, I had no plan for this year, but suddenly, I got some inspiration to learn a new language, start a new project and also try Japanese calligraphy thanks to Yumi.

I'll start the new language in March, but I started calligraphy today.

I wasn't serious at all, but I found a watercolor brush when I was cleaning upstairs. *I think my spring cleaning has already started.)

Then, I asked my brother to bring me some ink when he was going outside.

About the paper, I just have two sketchbooks made by my sister. I use them for drawing, journaling and language learning. So, I'm going to do calligraphy in my Japanese notebook.

He came back with something we call ecoline. He said painters use this kind of ink.

So, when I got alone, I tried to use them. I had no idea if I should've filled the brush up with water or ink. I filled it with ink and shook it, but there was no ink coming out. Then, because I hadn't closed it tightly a drop of ink came from the brush tank.

I put on an ASMR hiragana video on the laptop, and filmed myself with my phone. At some point, when I dipped the brush in the drop of ink, the color turned out nice. At other point, it didn't have any colors.

It was a fun experience. I sent my video to my sister and she encouraged me.

I don't like to get dirty. My fingers still have some black spots, but if I get alone, I'll keep doing it because It's relaxing.
