In Japan, we are enjoying the New Year holidays while gardeners, especially rose enthusiasts are busy during this season. Today, I pruned half of my roses even though some were still blooming. After that, I removed their leaves too. I don't like cutting off lovely rose flowers, but my rose bushes needed fully dormancy to prepare next spring.
Dormancy is very important like sleeping is very important for humans. While dormancy, they keep energy for creating new buds. Tomorrow, I'll prune a left of half.
To make use of the pruned branches, I prepared some cuttings.
I always use a rooting stimulator for my cuttings.
This time I made cuttings from three different kinds of roses. I'm better at making them in winter than in summer. It'll take about five to six months for them to root. I need to keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t dry out , so I water them constantly. Once they develop roots, I'll transfer each of them into a small pot, They'll become wonderful gifts to my friends. I have several friends who also love roses, and we are looking forward to exchanging our cuttings. I truly hope they'll grow strong and healthy.

Wow ! I didn't realize that you were a very skilled gardener in addition to being an artist ! I wish you the best with your rose development; I am sure that they will make wonderful presents. Homemade presents are the best after all.
@bakerboy001 Thank you so much for correcting and commenting! I'm not sure if I'm a very skilled gardener, but I love gardening! I'm always very interested in nature. I'm already very excited for next spring!! I totally agree that homemade presents are the best, especially if the gifts are my favorites, lol.
You are very welcome, I agree that If the present is what you have been hoping for it is even better ! By then the plants will look very beautiful.
Thank you! I'm already looking forward to next spring! I truly hope I'll see lots of roses blooming in my garden. That would be wonderful!
