Let's Jog Through Nature and Town

Come along with me! We're going to do a 5K jog today. Before we start, take a moment to stretch your legs and arms to warm up a bit. The temperature outside is around 10 degrees Celsius, and it's a bit windy. You might want to wear a thin windproof jacket. Are you ready? Let’s go!

We are starting with a nice, relaxing pace through the flower field. You'll notice flowers in various colours. I have just spotted a few sunflowers, which is strange for winter! Look at the cozy-looking building on your right hand side. It is a hamburger steak restaurant with a lovely garden. Be careful not to be drawn into the restaurant by the delicious smells coming from it.

We're about to cross the railroad tracks. Look to the right. Look to the left. Pay attention to the sounds too! I hope you're not blocking your ears with earbuds and blasting loud music, are you? There's a large general hospital right in front of us, but if you collided with a train…

Is everyone here? Should we do a quick headcount? It seems fine, right? From here on, it's a safe footpath for a while. Relax and enjoy jogging with me. One-two, one-two. Keep your breathing steady. In summer, the rice fields here are pretty. Sometimes, we can see pheasants, weasels, and most likely, cats. You might even spot birds of prey soaring above, searching for their next meal.

Right, we’re jogging up a little hill and you’ll see a reservoir. Can you see the ducks? Some are fighting for their territory in this spacious reservoir. Thankfully, they're sensible enough not to use weapons like humans do. Going down this steep slope and now we are seeing the co-op. We’re not stopping here today, so try to ignore the tempting smell coming from the bakery attached to the co-op.

Here’s the most dangerous intersection on this route. Watch out! Drivers here can be a bit inconsiderate and rarely stop for pedestrians—they’re probably just focused on getting to the co-op. Can you see a little greenery there? They are trees from the temple ahead and it is our turnaround point for today’s jog. Let’s continue jogging along this narrow path until we reach there.

We’re at the entrance now, so let’s slow down and walk. It’s so quiet and peaceful here. Take a look around. There are some maple trees, which have a lovely gradation of red, orange, and yellow. And that big camphor tree over there! It’s lush and bushy, almost like a giant broccoli. Have you all caught your breath? Great! Let’s head back the way we came.

How are your legs feeling? Still alright? You might feel a bit sore this evening, but it’ll pass quickly, and you’ll feel great tomorrow. And now here we’re at the goal! Well done, everyone! Feeling much warmer? Maybe a little sweaty? Be sure to have a shower and change into dry clothes before you catch a chill. Don’t forget to drink a glass of water, too!
